The fight against global hunger isn’t showing any signs of letting up.

The Canadian Foodgrains Bank is an organization that works to eliminate global hunger. Gordon Janzen is the group’s representative for Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario.

“This year we got the unfortunate news from the United Nations report that there has been an increase of the number of people who suffer from hunger in the world. We are now at 821 million people who experience hunger and malnutrition. So unfortunately there is no shortage of work for our member agencies.”

Despite some weather challenges Janzen was pleased with how much the growing project crops produced in 2018.

“This is a time to celebrate and thank people for their work and the support of the Foodgrains Bank.”

A number of celebration banquets and other events have been planned for numerous communities in southern Manitoba including Brandon, Winkler, Winnipeg, Roblin and Portage la Prairie.
