Sunday evening, the Sonatrice Singers shared some Christmas music in the hopes that it would bring people together, and inspire people to donate to the Carman & District Christmas Cheer Board.

Linda Drewlo has been a part of the Sonatrice Singers for roughly 15 years, and says they have been supporting the Cheer Board for at least as long as she has been singing with the choir.

"It seems like people really enjoy coming to the concert because you never know what you're going to have as part of the entertainment." She says that people love to come and take part in the music making themselves.

The Sunday evening concert helped raise nearly $3,000, which will go towards helping the Cheer Board fill hampers.

Drewlo says a number of choir members help pack hampers and get to see the direct impact this kind of fundraiser can have on the community. "When I was working, I was aware of some seniors that were in that position and needed to get a hamper, so we know which families it impacts."

Christmas time can be a difficult season, so Drewlo hopes the fundraising support can bring some good feelings to those who struggle at this time of year.

"We enjoy singing and we always have a spring concert in hopes that people will come and attend, but this Christmas Cheer fundraiser is a way that we can give back to the community, and give other people the opportunity to do so too," she says.
