While many view Gateway Resources in Winkler as a recycling depot, CEO Kim Nelson wants the public to know the organization does much more for the lives of its participants.

"Gateway is so much more," she says. "Yes, recycling is a huge part... but we have over 75 placements in the community where people work and have meaningful employment, we offer a variety of learning opportunities... it's really a holistic approach."

Participants will share their stories at the Faces of Gateway Gala April 12.

"The reason we all come to work is for the individuals we support," Nelson says. "There isn't a day I'm not grateful for my job at Gateway, and it's because of the individuals I get to greet every single day. And I want everyone to know who we're supporting."

Dozens of local businesses partner with Gateway each year to offer job development opportunities for participants.

Jobs range from working as a cashier, cleaning, and assisting at a daycare.

"We're so grateful for all of those opportunities," she says.

The Faces of Gateway Dinner Gala takes place at the Days Inn Conference Centre and will feature entertainment by Lakes and Pines as well as a silent auction.

The cost is $100 per seat and includes a $70 donation receipt. You can also purchase a table of eight for $700.

All money raised will support ongoing projects and programs at Gateway Resources.
