If you find the winter months long and are looking for a way to get out and socialize but would prefer to still stay warm, there is an option to do just that and be creative at the same time.

The owners of Bloom Petals and Gifts in Winkler are offering various workshops into January, and possibly beyond.

Co-owner Madison Wiebe says it's a way to help get the community out of the house and have some fun.

"Over the winter months, especially leading up to Christmas, we're doing wreath workshops which people seem to really love. It's so nice to use fresh greenery to get that nice fragrance, and they do last all winter," said Madison.

There will also be Christmas centrepiece workshops and collaboration of macrame workshops. "Further into January we'll probably be looking at some vase arranging, and some different ideas."

Kristina says they also wanted to share their talents with the community, and at the same time help build confidence for people in these specific areas in a relaxed environment. She says it's really fun for them to get the community involved.

"To get people in the store and create that community feeling, It's so fun to have people in our space who can see what we're doing behind the scenes...It's so fun to just spend the evening together and a way for people to get out of the house and enjoy being out and about."

Information on the workshops can be found on Bloom Petals and Gift's website and social media pages.

Madison and Kristina say they pride themselves on having a good selection of quality giftware in their store, including a lot of items made in Manitoba or in Canada. "We really like supporting local and supporting smaller businesses as well."
