The South Central Cancer Resource (SCCR) in Morden received a face-lift recently, transforming a narrow, almost hidden office into an open concept entrance.

"When people would come in, they didn't know where to look or to go," said administrative coordinator, Tracy Peters. She added that the new reception area is much more welcoming for people.

"The response has been fantastic," said Peters.

SCCR, despite having operated in Morden for a number of years at the same address, is still hard to find for some. A solid, unmarked door in the corner of another office's lobby used to lead into the SCCR. Now, a half wall has been removed and a large window was opened up in the door revealing a totally remodelled reception area with a new, hand-made sign.

All the money and materials were donated by local businesses.

Now, Peters is hoping to fill the bare walls of the office with paintings made by cancer-survivors or patients, pieces that display their own journey through cancer.
