The reeve for the R.M. of Dufferin says there are a couple maintenance projects underway.

First, more than 600 kilometres of gravel is ready to be distributed throughout 40 per cent of each of the six wards, George Gray said. The highly-travelled roads will see more attention than the less-travelled roads.

The budget for this project is approximately $700,000.

Second, a bridge located west of Carman is in need of repair. The piles are rotting at the bottom due to age. The project will go out to tender in fall and construction is expected to be done in winter, Gray said. Although the cost has not yet been determined, it is estimated to be between $190,000 and $250,000.

Until the bridge is fixed, Gray urges the public to take caution as they cross the bridge and obey the signs.

“(The bridge) is quite safe the way it is as long as people respect travelling on the one side,” he said.
