A two vehicle collision Monday evening east of Winkler sent two people to hospital.

The Winkler Fire Department, RCMP, and paramedics were called to the scene on Highway 14, approximately 2 miles east of Winkler shortly after 8:30 p.m.

Winkler Fire Chief Richard Paetzold said members of the fire department assisted paramedics in extricating two people from one of the vehicles.  They were taken to Boundary Trails Health Centre by ambulance.  At this point the nature of their injuries are unknown.

Two people from the second vehicle were treated at the scene.

According to STARS Air Ambulance Spokesperson, Cam Heke, STARS was dispatched to the scene however, the mission was cancelled as STARS was not ultimately required.
