A local meteorologist says it appears as if spring is here to stay.

Scott Kehler with Weather Logics says sunlight reflects off the snow and helps keep the weather cool, however, since most of the snow has melted, the sunlight is now able to be absorbed by the ground and warm the air up.

"Usually when you have warm weather, that is usually accompanied by dry weather because the jet stream shifts north. When the jet stream shifts north it carries all the weather systems up north with it. So, that usually means we're in a dryer pattern, that can shift very quickly, but right now it does look that way."

He says there is currently a lot of standing water on fields but adds that is not an unusual sight for this time of the year.

"As long as we don't see significant rainfall, that water should gradually move off. We have to see what weather is coming in the next couple of months to know for sure."

Kehler says because a lot of the snow melted earlier it doesn't appear there will be a major flood, but adds there will definitely be localized areas of concern.
