Journalists from around the world continue to find their way to Emerson, chasing the illegal migrant stories that are pouring out of the small border community. Crew from the Tokyo Broadcasting System were the latest to arrive on Friday.

Saori Moriizumi and two others flew out from their New York office and says there is a lot of interest in Japan in U.S. President Trump and the policies he's setting.

"We are interested in what the affects of that were and we saw that it causing a big effect in this place so we came down here to see what was happening."

Moriizumi adds the subject of immigrants and refugees is not an issue in Japan as it is an island nation. She felt it was important to tell the personal stories of the people risking their lives to come to another country.

Overall, Moriizumi says she's been quite moved by how open and welcoming the people of Emerson are.
