Pembina Valley RCMP have laid 13 charges after a concerned citizen alerted officers to an impaired driver in the rural area around Miami last Friday evening.
Officers found the suspect vehicle on a gravel road just outside of town, but it didn't stop when they tried to pull it over. Police followed the vehicle for a few kilometres until it came to a stop in a vacant lot near town.
A 40-year-old man from Miami was arrested and taken into custody.
He has been charged with six Criminal Code offences including:
- Flight from Police;
- Operate a Conveyance while Impaired;
- Resist Police Officer;
- Assault Police with Weapon;
- Utter Threats;
- Fail to Comply with Breath Demand.
As well, police have laid 7 Highway Traffic Act charges including:
Drive Unregistered Vehicle;
Drive Motor Vehicle without Liability Insurance;
Drive Carelessly;
Drive while Disqualified;
Fail to Display Correct Number / Type of Plate;
Display Plate Number not Matching Registration;
Fail to Obey Peace Officers Instruction.
