Eden Foundation held it's annual Ironman golf tournament yesterday (Monday) to support Eden Health Care Services. This was the 17th annual event, which has been a tremendous help to the organization over the years.

"We do have a number of golfers here. In the neighbourhood of a dozen people who are on the course and golfing in the benefit of Eden Health Care Services," said Eden Foundation's Director of Development Earl Reimer. "Donations are being made through Eden Foundation, but everything that we do is designed to be of service to Eden Health Care Services."

Participants helped raise over $16,000

This year the tournament took on a bit of a different style as the golfers will only be playing a total of four rounds, or seventy-two holes instead of the traditional 100 the tournament has done in the past.

Each year there are a number of old and new faces on the course, but regardless money is being raised right here in Winkler.

"I just wanted to be a part of this great service in the community. One of course is to golf, but apart from that just to contribute to all of the great stuff that Eden does," said first time golfer Sibu Thomas.

This year participants helped raise over $16,200. Last year over $15,000 was raised to support the services Eden Health Care Services offers to the people who need them.

The proceeds will be used for Eden's housing initiative, Recovery of Hope and Segue Career Options. Each of these programs has significant purpose and the fundraising proceeds will make an enhancement for the local community.
