"If someone said, "we don't have money, we can't stay here"... a family with three children, you're not going to ask them why... that's not our business. Our business is to make them feel comfortable."

That from Ruth Reimer of Katie Cares, sharing on the importance of their Compassion Fund, which covers the overnight cost for those who can't afford to stay at the local respite home, Katie's Cottage.

On average four rooms are booked each night at the cottage, providing a place of refuge for those receiving care at Boundary Trails Health Centre.

This week, Cargill donated $5,000 to the Katie Cares compassionate fund, which will cover over 100 overnight stays.

Jody Magotiaux, Regional Commercial Leader for Cargill in Manitoba, explains it was an opportunity to serve the entire region.

Rheanne Serediuk, Customer Service Representative, adds it feels good to see the funds being put to use.

Cargill Limited is headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba and employs over 8,000 people across Canada.
