Manitoba Hydro crews continue to make good progress in restoring service following the Colorado Low that swept through the region Sunday night and into Monday. Over 10,000 customers experienced outages as the storm tracked across Southern Manitoba dropping between 10cms and 20cms of snow.

MB Hydro's Scott Powell said that as of 11am Tuesday there were still 546 customers still without power, mostly in small groups on individual distribution lines.

He added that restoration has taken longer because of access issues and closed highways.

"It slows transportation down, makes it harder for us to get where we're going and harder for us to access the lines."

Meantime, the heavy snowfall caused a number of problems including galloping power lines, transformer issues and fallen trees.

Powell encourages people to contact Manitoba Hydro if they see any trees bending into power lines from the weight of all the snow. He also says to treat downed     power lines as live and to also report them.Reports can be made by calling 1-888-MB-HYDRO or 1-888-624-9376.
