What was supposed to be a normal trip back to Morden from Winnipeg for local resident John Reimer turned out to be just the opposite.
While towing a trailer after helping family members move, Reimer noticed smoke coming from under his truck's hood.
After pulling over the truck suddenly went up in flames.
He says they are still unsure of how the fire started, but suspect mechanical issues.
While the truck was a total loss, the local fire department was able to extinguish the flames before they reached the moving trailer.
A local Moving Company's truck caught fire this afternoon on Highway 75 near Red River Co-op Speedway, south of Winnipeg.
Information received by Pembinavalleyonline.com indicated that all occupants of the truck made it safely out of the vehicle. Fire response vehicles were seen making their way on-scene shortly before 5:00 PM on Sunday evening. Traffic was being diverted around the scene.
We'll continue to follow this incident as more information becomes available.
