It's been a challenging year for many, equally so for non-profit organizations.

To help those organizations get through this tough time, the Morden Area Foundation handed out $40,000 in grants in partnership with the Government of Canada Emergency Community Support Fund and Community Foundations of Canada.

"The Government has the money, and they asked CFC to look after all agreements and disburse funds with community foundations and United Ways," says MAF Executive Director Lynda Lambert. "The community foundations look after searching out COVID related projects, disbursing the funds, and following up with reports."

Lambert adds it's fulfilling to aid organizations whose services have been limited due to restrictions brought on by the virus.

Genesis House - $13,000 project to hire extra staff to prepare food for guests following COVID 19 restrictions.

Many Hands Resource Centre - $14,000 project of coupons/vouchers for products sold at the Morden Farmer's Market (fresh veggies and meat and baking) for those in need.

Morden Adult Ed - $13,000 for a new outdoor classroom due to COVID 19 restrictions.

"It's great to know we have the community support for such a great program," says Many Hands Executive Director Hannah Drudge. "We're able to support families and support all the local farmers and produce growers."

Genesis House Executive Director Ang Brown says the support is fantastic.

"We would have never been able to pull this off without support from the MAF and the ECSF. It would never have happened."
