Patients transported by STARS helicopter won't be receiving a bill for their emergency flight.

It's thanks in part to the community support and donations that STARS receives, including all money raised from Access Credit Union's 2017 Charity Golf Tournament. In 2016 the tournament raised over $61,000.

"We are proud to support STARS through our Annual Golf Tournament. Access seeks to invest in organizations for the betterment of our members and our communities," says Larry Davey, President and CEO of Access Credit Union. "With STARS covering Access's entire footprint, we see this as a win-win for Southern Manitoba."

In 2016 the non-profit air ambulance flew 609 missions in Manitoba, 133 in Southern Manitoba.

Local 15 year old hockey player Kelby Sprung, who received a ride with STARS Air Ambulance after a season-ending injury, plans on presenting the STARS crew with funds raised at a recent fundraiser.

"Thank you to Access Credit Union for their very generous supports of STARS," says Els Fenton, Executive Director of the Manitoba STARS Foundation. "Proceeds from the charity golf tournament will directly contribute toward life-saving emergency care and rapid transportation for critically ill and injured Manitobans."

The tournament takes place at the Minnewasta Golf and Country Club in Morden September 14.
