Vanessa Wiebe represents the voice of the next generation and knows the importance of gaining experience in the political world.

However, as a youth delegate for the PC party she says engaging teens in politics remains a challenge.

"Politicians hear a lot of the adult voices, but they need those younger people, we are the next generation," Wiebe says. "We are the next ones in those seats and so we need to start becoming aware."

The Progressive Conservative party of Manitoba held its AGM this past weekend in Winnipeg. Any PC member (14 years and older) was invited to the two-day event.

During the weekend a number of youth sessions provided networking opportunities while introducing teens to politics.

"It was so cool, not many 17-year-olds can say they spent the weekend with the finance minister and MLAs from all over the province," she says.
