Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Morden and Winkler is the recipient of a $5,000 grant from RBC's Learn to Play project.

BBBS Executive Director Michael Penner explains the money will go towards their Kicks for Kids martial arts program, which serves 20 elementary school students.

While the program promotes physical activity, Penner notes it also teaches of the values of respect, integrity, acceptance of others, hard work and self-control.

Participants also receive a strong anti-bullying message.

Miranda Rowson, Winkler RBC Branch Manager explains RBC understands children need to learn the basic skills of being active in order to develop the confidence and competence to participate in sport and physical activity.

"To have the opportunity to play with their friends and be healthy, happy and active for life," she says. "That is why RBC created the Learn to Play Project."
