The Manitoba government has outlined the process to keep the R-M of Ritchot in operation after three of the five members of council resigned.

Mayor Jackie Hunt along with councillors Jeannot Robert and Ron Mamchuk handed in their resignations this past weekend.  They have not yet said why.

That leaves only two councillors which means there is not a quorum to hold meetings.

The province says it will now appoint an administrator to help run the R-M of Ritchot in accordance with the Municipal Act.  This person will have the authority to make decisions on behalf of council until new council members are elected.

The administrator will be directed to call by-elections for the vacated seats as soon as possible.

The province says it is actively working at this time to appoint an administrator.

The municipal website states Tuesday's regular council meeting has been cancelled.

The R.M. of Ritchot is located northeast of the R.M. of Morris.
