This past weekend was host to the long-running Miami Fair and Rodeo at the Miami Fairgrounds.

The fair saw a variety of activities from the cattle and horse show to the rodeo with a larger focus on making the fair more friendly to all ages.

Miami Ag Society's Jan MoodyAg president, Troy Turner, speaks on how he's spent his last 3 years developing the Miami fair.

"We worked hard at really making this event for the kids as much as possible with the kids fair that's happening here," he explains. "It's grown over the last 3 years, we put a lot of work into that, making sure it's a very kid friendly type event."

He notes while it's the 26th year of the rodeo, the fair has been running for 110 years.

"That's something I think we can be pretty proud of," Turner says.

One of the organizers from The Miami Ag Society, Jan Moody, speaks on what draws people to the fair.

"One thing is that we are a community, family, fair and a lot of people really like coming back to that, but I would think our biggest draw has to be the Heartland Rodeo," she says. "You get to have a full page of all kinds of rodeo activities, so I would think that the rodeo is really the biggest draw here."

The Miami Fair and Rodeo welcomes residents from all over southern Manitoba in the last full weekend of June.
