Winkler Police Service is asking for information from the public regarding missing snowmobile trail signs.

Chief Ryan Hunt explains the signs were taken from the portion of the province-wide groomed trail system that runs through Winkler along Eastview Drive.

The signs are the property of and are posted by, the local Border Valley Sno Goers Club. Hunt notes the removal of the signs is considered theft and breaking the signs is considered mischief, both of which are offences under the Criminal Code of Canada.

"The Club goes through a lot of work to keep the trail system in good condition but when the signs are removed or broken it creates safety concerns for riders," Hunt says. "We ask that if anyone has information regarding this incident to please contact the Winkler Police Service."
