Just because icy roads, snowstorms and cold weather are not contributing factors to vehicular accidents in the warmer months, RCMP Manitoba spokesperson Tara Seel says drivers need to continue to be alert during summer.

Seel said with an increase of traffic, roadways are busy and travellers must remain aware and vigilant.

After Monday's fatal collision on Highway 75 that left two men deceased, a call for safe driving reminders is needed.

"We can't urge enough that people need to be alert, aware on the highways. These tragedies are preventable, and any loss of life us just horrific," said Seel.

Including Monday's accident, Seel said 31 fatal collisions resulting in 34 deaths have occurred on Manitoba roadways this year.
