The R.M. of Montcalm plans to decrease the size of its nuisance grounds in the municipality, due to less need and a strong recycling program.

It was announced at the November council meeting that the R.M. of Montcalm almost doubled the average in recycling across the province.

"It was news to me, but great news.  A lot of people buy in, and the R.M. seems to be conscientious about recycling," said Reeve of Montcalm Derek Sabourin.

Due to the high amount of recycling in the municipality, the nuisance grounds have seen a large decrease in the amount of garbage or items going into the site, allowing the community to decrease the size of their grounds.

"A lot of recognition goes out to our nuisance grounds coordinator for doing such a fine job, helping us be a recycling role model across the province," said Sabourin.

Sabourin also noted that what's good for the environment is good for the people.
