Starting Tuesday Morden Collegiate Institute (MCI) will be offering an in-house health clinic for its students to utilize every Tuesday afternoon.

Collegiate Principal Marianne Fenn said this is a partnership between Western School Division (WSD), MCI and Agassiz Medical Clinic.

"Any student here at Morden Collegiate will be able to make appointments and see a nurse practitioner on site," said Fenn. "This will allow the students to get access to basic health services without having to miss school time to attend medical appointments."

The clinic will offer most basic health care services. Fenn added if there was a need for further procedures the nurse practitioner may refer the student to the Agassiz Medical Centre.

Throughout the planning stages, Fenn said they noticed a number of families in the area who may not necessarily have access to a full-time practitioner.

"This is a way for students to, without any barriers in place, to connect with a health practitioner in Morden without having to make an appointment outside of school," said Fenn.

Students can book their own appointments by calling the Agassiz Medical Centre, or they can text a number the school has provided. The appointments are confidential.
