Morden Collegiate Institute recently held its final event for its 'grade wars' and was able to raise around $250 for the ALS Society in the process.

"This was an opportunity for the different grades, nine through twelve, as well as a team of staff to compete against each other to earn some spirit points," explained teacher Chris Chiappetta. "The final event included a variety of events that were put on by the student council at Morden Collegiate. One of the events was an ALS ice bucket challenge."

Chiappetta said 'grade wars' is a way the school tries to connect the students in each grade while raising school spirit at the same time.

There was a wide variety of events that took place throughout the year as part of grade wars.

The final event was capped off with the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which each team participated in. Chiappetta said the student council felt with the popularity of the challenge a year prior and the great cause it was supporting, they chose to support it once again.
