More local families will have the opportunity to afford sporting costs with the help of a donation from Morden Magics Gymnastics Club.

The club raised $1,029 at its recent year-end display show by charging a two dollar admission fee.

The total amount will be donated to KidSport Manitoba, which will relay that money over to families within the southern region to offset the price of sports registration.

This is the second consecutive year the club has donated to KidSport. Head coach Crystal Westfall explains why they chose to donate again.

“Often in the community we might have kids who need a little help out in registration costs and things like that, and it's always good to be able to give back to programs in the province that really help out kids who do gymnastics [and] also all sorts of other sports,” she said.

Regional sport development officer for Sport Manitoba south region Leanne Traynor said she is happy to receive the donation on behalf of the organization.

“It goes a long way for us to help kids partake in sport who can't afford to do it, so we thank [the club] greatly,” said
