While the legalization of cannabis has come and gone, Morden Police Chief Brad Neduzak says their day-to-day operations haven't changed much.

"We were fairly ready and prepared for it... as we now get into it we'll see different things that we need to change and the challenges that will come about."

Morden police are also waiting on a new roadside screening device, funded by the federal government. Neduzak explains an oral swab is taken to test the driver's saliva for THC.

Neduzak also recommends residents familiarize themselves with the finer points of the new legislation.

When consuming legal cannabis a person must be 19 years of age or older, and you can only buy from licensed retailers. Cannabis can't be consumed in public and users are not allowed to drive after consuming cannabis. When transporting the drug it must be stored in the trunk or back of the vehicle so that it is inaccessible to the driver.
