Morden Police Service responded to a number of mischief and alcohol and drug-related incidents this past week.

On June 2, while on general patrol, police observed a vehicle driving with no front or rear plates. Police activated their emergency lights and subsequently pulled this vehicle over. Police spoke with the driver and observed an odor of fresh marihuana coming from inside the vehicle. Police searched the vehicle and seized a quantity of marihuana along with drug paraphernalia. The driver was issued a ticket for Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis in or on a Vehicle which carries a $237 fine and a ticket for Drive Without a Valid Licence which carries a fine of $298.

On June 3, at 8:50 p.m, police were dispatched to a business on Stephen Street regarding a male throwing rocks at the window of the business. Police attended the area and located the suspect who admitted to throwing rocks at the business. He was arrested and charged with one count of Mischief Over $5000. The 31-year-old Winkler resident was released on an Undertaking and will appear in Morden Provincial Court in August.

On June 6, at 12:30 a.m, police were flagged down by several witnesses who heard a male on the roof of a building yelling at pedestrians. One of the witnesses observed the male getting off the roof and head down the back alley. The suspect was located and appeared intoxicated and had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath. He was arrested for trespassing and under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and was lodged in cells until sober. He was issued a ticket for Trespassing on Private Property which carries a fine of $113 and released.
