Morden Police are investigating an early morning theft that occurred at a local business Friday, May 25.

At 5:11 am police were called to a report of a break and enter to the Morden Esso on Thornhill Street. Police arrived on scene and found one of the front glass doors smashed.

Police say the suspect, or multiple suspects, entered the business and took an undisclosed amount of cigarettes and lottery tickets. Police continue to investigate.

May 22nd, Police received a call of an intoxicated person walking on Highway 3 at the west end of Morden. Police responded to the area and located the suspect who was displaying signs of intoxication. The suspect was driven a short distance and turned over to a family member for his own safety.

May 23rd, Police received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle that occurred overnight in the 200 block of Stephen Street. The victim advised that a black and red MotoMaster air compressor and a 1500 watt power inverter had been stolen from inside the vehicle. The vehicle was last seen at 10 pm and was left unlocked. May 23rd, While on general patrol at 11:55 pm, members of the Morden Police Service located a suspicious vehicle parked near a local school. Police approached the vehicle and noticed a backpack on the ground near the vehicle and two male occupants inside the vehicle. While speaking with the occupants police observed some marihuana inside the vehicle. The occupants were both arrested for possession of marihuana and the vehicle was searched. Police located another quantity of marihuana and numerous drug related items and paraphernalia. Both individuals were cooperative and all items were relinquished to police. Police were able to determine that the driver was under the influence of drugs and was not allowed to drive. There were no charges as a result of this incident.

May 25th, At 5:11 am police were called to a report of a Break and Enter to the Morden Esso on Thornhill Street. Police arrived on scene and observed one of the front glass doors to be broken out. The culprit(s) entered the business and took an undisclosed amount of cigarettes and lottery tickets. Police are continuing to investigate this matter. May 25th, Police received an unendorsed warrant of arrest for David Larrance Penner for failing to attend Morden Provincial Court on May 22nd, 2018. Penner was arrested by Winnipeg Police Service on the strength of one of their own warrants and was remanded into custody to appear in Winnipeg Provincial court on May 28th, 2018.

May 25th, Police received a silver/white I-Phone that was found in a dugout at a Morden Baseball diamond. Anyone missing this cell phone is asked to attend to the Morden Police Service to claim ownership.

May 27th, While on general patrol, members of the Morden Police Service observed a female riding a bicycle that was known to have a warrant for her arrest. Police stopped the female to affect an arrest and observed a male suspect walking behind her known to be on conditions not to have contact or communication with the female. Police conducted checks on the female and discovered she was on the same conditions not to have contact with the male. Both the 32 year old female and 31 year old male, both residents of Morden, were arrested for Breaching conditions of their probation order and breaching conditions of their undertakings. The female will also be charged for failing to appear in Morden Provincial Court on May 22nd, 2018. Both individuals were transported to the Morden Police Service and later released on Promises to Appear in Morden Provincial Court in July.
