Two residents of Morden are set to appear in court next month to face a number of drug-related charges.
    

Morden police seized over 40 grams of cocaineAround 9:00 P.M. last Tuesday, Morden police stopped a suspicious vehicle occupied by both females near the corner of Wardrop Street and Birchwood Drive and located a quantity of cocaine in the process.    

The two individuals, a male and female, were arrested after the find.

The regional Support Tactical Team executed two search warrants early the next morning, which uncovered a lot more.  Police seized over 40 grams of cocaine, 4 cell phones, a scale, packaging materials, a cutting agent, and a small amount of Canadian currency.
    
Shannon Fontaine and Jennifer Giesbrecht, both residents of Morden, have been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine), Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), and Possess Goods Obtained by Crime.

Both Giesbrecht and Fontaine were remanded into custody and released on conditions to appear in Morden Provincial Court in May.

April 12th, 2017

A member of the Morden Police Service attended and participated in the Pink Shirt Day – Anti bullying campaign-  that was held at the Ecole Morden Middle School.  The police service is grateful for the opportunity to participate in school campaigns like this and found it very worthwhile.  Police were given the opportunity to address the crowd, amongst other presenters, to show their support for this now International message against bullying.

April 13th, 2017

Police received a complaint of Mischief caused to a vehicle that was parked near the back lane connecting 16th street to 17th street in Morden.  The victim reported that the culprit(s) used a black marker and wrote on the side of a white pickup truck.  
Residents in the area have noticed other small acts of Mischief that occurred in this same area.  Anyone with information regarding any of these incident are asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).


April 15th, 2017

In the early morning hours, police received a report from a Morden resident of a suspicious vehicle that was parked in their bay.   Police attended to the area and located the suspect vehicle.  Upon speaking with the occupants, police detected a faint odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.   A subsequent investigation revealed a small amount of marijuana which was destroyed by police.  Both adult occupants of the vehicle were given warnings for their actions and no charges resulted from this incident.

During this period, members of the Morden Police Service issued 9 Provincial Offence Notices to motorists.  Out of these Offence Notices, 5 were issued for Drivers using their cell phones or other hand-operated electronic devices while driving a vehicle.  Police remind the public that this offence carries a fine in the amount of $203.80 and points against their drivers licence.
