Morden Police have released more information regarding a two-vehicle collision Saturday on Highway 3 near Boston Pizza.
    
Police say a vehicle travelling westbound had slowed down in the right lane to turn north onto La Verendrye Boulevard.  A second vehicle, also travelling west in the right lane, failed to see the vehicle slowing down and ran into the first vehicle at highway speed.  
    
The impact sent the first vehicle into the north ditch causing heavy damage to the rear of the vehicle.  
    
The driver of the first vehicle was transported to Boundary Trails Health Centre by ambulance with back injuries and the rear passenger was transported to Health Sciences Centre by STARS air ambulance with a leg injury.  
    
The driver and passenger of the second vehicle received no serious injuries.  
    
Police are continuing their investigation, and as of Monday morning had no further updates on the two individuals in hospital.

Police received a report of a cell phone that went missing, described as a black Samsung with an otterbox case. A boat and trailer was reported missing from Lakeside Storage in Morden sometime between May 29th and this date.  The boat is described as a white 15-foot aluminum Sea Nymph fishing boat with a 50 horsepower outboard Johnson motor.  It contained numerous fishing rods and tackle and was covered with a blue boat cover.  The trailer is a white 1996 Shorelander with license number J696P.  Anyone with information regarding this incident are asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

June 2nd, 2017

Around 7:30 pm, police were on general patrol at Lake Minnewasta when they observed a vehicle parked off the roadway at the point, overlooking the lake.  Police approached the vehicle, which had three occupants inside, and immediately detected an odor of fresh-burnt marihuana from within.  One individual admitted that they were smoking marihuana and a subsequent search located a pink glass bong, a pink bat and box, two bud busters and two plastic baggies containing a small amount of marihuana.  All items were seized and the occupants were issued warnings for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

During this reporting period, police issued 4 Provincial Offence Notices for drivers caught using their cell phones while driving.  Police remind the public that over and above the usual safety concerns, this ticket carries a penalty of $203.80 and points against their licence.
