Morden Police have released more details regarding a methamphetamine seizure on March 7th. This was a joint operation with the help of Winkler Police.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on March 7th, Morden Police stopped a vehicle east of the city on Highway 3, after receiving information that the occupants were in possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

The two male individuals a 17-year-old male and 55-year-old male inside the vehicle were arrested and a subsequent search of their vehicle located a quantity of meth in the trunk.

Morden Police then towed the vehicle back to the station where a further search of it was complete. During this search, officers located a glass bong along with 200 medical syringes and rubber tubing, which is all consistent with meth use as well as other drug paraphernalia.

As a result of this incident the 17-year-old youth has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Meth), Fail to Comply with a Probation Order (abstain from possession of alcohol), and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking (abstain from possession of drugs).  

Meanwhile, the 55-year-old male is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Meth).  Both individuals were remanded into custody awaiting their next court appearance.

February 27th, 2018

Police were dispatched to a residence around midnight reporting an unknown male banging on the door.  Enroute to the residence, police came across a male walking near the residence who was unsteady on his feet and appeared to be under the influence.  Police spoke with the male who was intoxicated and not able to provide a reasonable explanation of where he was coming from or going to.  An updated description of the suspect was provided by the caller that matched with the male police were presently speaking with.  A check with police dispatch revealed that the suspect was on conditions not to be consuming alcohol.  The 28-year-old male from Morden was arrested for Breach of Recognizance and lodged in cells overnight until sober.  He was released in the morning on a Promise to Appear in Morden Provincial Court in April.

March 3rd, 2018

Police received a report of a hit and run to a vehicle that occurred sometime in the afternoon in the parking lot of 205 9th Street South in Morden.  The driver parked their 2012 brown Chevrolet Equinox in the parking lot and later noticed damage to the passenger’s side rear bumper.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

March 5th, 2018

Police received a report of a hit and run to a vehicle that occurred on March 3rd around 1:00 pm in the parking lot of Tim Hortons in Morden.  The driver returned to his 2004 black Audi A4 and noticed damage to the driver’s front fender.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).
