The following is the Morden Police Service Report for the period of February 27th to March 13th, 2017, as submitted by the department.

February 28th, 2017

At approximately 3:00 am, members of the Morden Police Service arrested a 20-year-old Winkler man for breaching the conditions of his undertaking.    The arrest was the result of the accused contacting the victim contrary to the conditions of his release.  The accused had previously been arrested and released by the Winkler Police Service for Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Uttering Threats and Assault against the female victim.  The accused was released on a Promise to Appear in Morden Provincial Court in April.

March 2nd, 2017
Police conducted a presentation to a group of 30 seniors at the Home Stead South.  The presentation covered numerous safety issues including fraudulent internet / phone scams and motorized scooter safety.  

March 3rd, 2017
Members of the Morden Police Service received a third party call of a domestic dispute at a residence in Morden.  Police responded to the address and learned that a couple had been yelling at each other but no assaults had taken place.  Police discovered that there were children present at the time of the arguing and police helped mediate the situation.  No charges were laid as a result of this incident but Child and Family Services were contacted and notified of the situation.

March 4th, 2017
Members of the Morden Police Service received a call of a Break and Enter in progress from a homeowner.  Police responded to the residence and located the homeowner.   Upon further investigation, it was determined that the suspect was a spouse who entered their house after the locks had been changed, without their knowledge.  The only items that were missing were personal items belonging to the spouse and no charges were laid as a result of this incident.

March 2nd, 2017
Police received a report that sometime on this morning, a semi-trailer was stolen from a local business in Morden.  The trailer was described as a white 2001 Great Dane, 53-foot trailer with a refer unit at the front and was valued at approximately $9000.  Inside the trailer was approximately $35,000 worth of tools.  The trailer was parked on the lot, close to the street, and witnesses observed a semi tractor truck pull up and take the trailer away.   Police have since located the trailer and all of its contents.  The investigation is continuing.

March 7th, 2017
While on an unrelated call, police were advised by a resident of Mountain Street that his car had been stolen that morning sometime between 8:00 am and 10:00 am.  Police obtained the particulars of the vehicle and entered it on a Canada Wide Police system as stolen.   The next day, members of the Morden Police Service were advised that the vehicle had been located in Portage La Prairie and the occupants were arrested.   The victim’s vehicle was recovered and police continue to investigate the matter.

March 7th, 2017
While on general patrol members recognized a vehicle, believed to be driven by a female suspect, who was wanted by the Winkler Police Service for a Break and Enter.   Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as the suspect wanted by police.  The female driver was arrested and transported to the Morden Police Service for processing.  Members of the Winkler Police Service were contacted and attended and took custody of the suspect.
