A total of $50,000 was granted to the City of Morden through the Small Communities Transportation Fund. Mayor Ken Wiebe said money like this is always welcome and it'll help the city complete a few projects which otherwise would've had to wait a while.

According to Wiebe, this money is earmarked to help create more sidewalks and pathways in the community.

"We want to create a network of sidewalks and paths that move people safely and efficiently around the city," said Wiebe. "There are over a dozen different projects all over Morden which will benefit from this funding we've received.

He added some of the sidewalks, like the one on 19th street, have already been completed, with others still being worked on.

Wiebe said an active transportation network is important to Morden in their mission to make the city environmentally friendly.
