The City of Morden held a public consultation to hear what residents would like to see changed at Lake Minnewasta.

Residents had the chance to voice their opinions and ideas as to what they would like to remain the same, changed, and or added to the lake.

"We need some better access control at the gate coming into the campground and beach area, better patrol of the qualification of boat operators on the lake, and we need some redesign of some of the campsites at the lake," said resident Hugh Lumgair.

Meanwhile, resident Jeff Scott is happy with the services currently offered at the lake including the swimming, hiking, and canoeing. He added he would be thrilled to see ideas implemented which could enhance those services even more.

Director of Community Services Clare Agnew noted the City won't be taking any of its services away, but are looking at improving upon what they are currently doing.

Agnew noted lots of people enjoy the activity on and in the water and in terms of what they'd like to see added could be something like beach volleyball. She added a lot of people are concerned about the trail system and don't want to see it leave.

"It's cold out right now and that's when we have to plan for what's going to happen in the spring and summer," said Agnew. "We are just looking for ideas now so over the winter we can make a plan."
