The Morris Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corp celebrated many accomplishments and showed off their skills at this weeks annual ceremonial review.

The Cadet support committee held a formal ceremony, attended by Reviewing Officer Major Smith of the Regional Cadet Support Unit. The ceremony included the presentation of plaques and trophies donated by local municipal governments and organizations.

Commanding Officer Roxanne Maynard says the awards were to recognize the accomplishments of cadets over the course of the training year.

"So this is where we recognize the cadets that went over and above the normal, we really get to show them off and everything they have done and learned throughout the year. There were a lot of highlights over the last year starting with having enough members to attended a marksmanship competition. Our cadets did so well in their first competition that we were allowed to continue further. Last week Sunday we had decoration day here in Morris and the Cadet Band members for the first time played their instruments and marched beside the community legion members and area dignitaries. Tonight we are also saying goodbye to cadet that is almost nineteen. Cadets is a program that starts at twelve years old until the day before you nineteenth birthday which is when we have to age them out. So tonight we actually had our first cadet that started the corp very young ageing out tonight."

Maynard added It was bitter sweet and that the organization will miss him a lot, noting that this will open up the door for new future leaders that can get out into the community and do things because they already know how.
