A woman known to area police has been arrested for stealing liquor from a store in Morris over the weekend.

Morris RCMP were called to the shop on Main Street on Sunday evening and discovered that a female suspect had entered the store, walked directly to one of the liquor shelves and left without making a purchase. When the store employee reviewed the surveillance footage, the woman is seen taking a 1.75 litre bottle of liquor and concealing it in her coat before walking out of the store. Officers were able to identify the suspect on the video and paid a visit to her home where they observed the stolen bottle of liquor on the table.

The 42-year-old woman has been remanded into custody on charges of Theft Under $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Resisting Arrest, and Failing to Comply with Probation. She had just been released from custody and placed on court imposed conditions as of February 13 in relation to a search warrant executed at her residence where stolen property had been located.
