Bree Langlais, the Morris Recreation Director, would like to see an outdoor rest and recovery area for the town. It would include spacious washroom facilities, picnic tables, and a sheltered area.

Bree Langlais, Morris Recreation Director, is encouraging people to vote for the project on the Aviva website changing table to make the area more accessible for everyone.

"It also gives us the ability to host more outside now, knowing that we have permanent washroom facilities there," she said. "In the winter people can cross-country ski, they can snowshoe, they can run outside, or in the summer... we can host programs such as yoga in the park."

"It just gives us more opportunity in that area of town," she said.

Langlais is hoping to win the $100,000 fund from the Aviva Community fund to cover a large portion of the $117,000 project.

In the past, the Aviva Community Fund has provided funding so that Morris could make repairs to the stampede area.

Langlais is urging community members and non-community members to go to the website and cast their votes for the project. Voting takes place Oct. 10-19. She noted that each person can vote 18 times, and can cast all those votes in one sitting.

"The more votes we get, the higher the chance that we will get awarded the funding that we need to build the facility," she said.

The website states that enough votes could enter a community into the finals, where a judging panel will award the funds.
