After months of planning and construction, the new splash pad in Morris is expected to open within the coming weeks, according to Melanie Friesen of the Morris Pool.

She said the splash features have already been installed, and they are waiting on the completion of some final electrical stages. They are hoping to have a walk-through done by Public Health inspectors soon.

The Morris Pool's season is scheduled to end September 2nd, but Friesen said, if the splash pad is completed by then, they will look into extending the pool season so swimmers can get a taste of the new facility before next year.

Right now, the project committee is still fundraising to cover the remaining expenses. The committee will partner with Tim Hortons on the restaurant's Smile Cookie campaign coming up in September, and they also have an ongoing brick sponsorship program; community members, resident or a business, are invited to purchase a brick with their name or logo on it. All the bricks will then be put together to form the pathway between the pool deck and the picnic shelter.

If anyone would like to donate to the project they can contact Friesen via mel.recdept@townofmorris.ca
