Friday afternoon was a milestone for the Morris Pool as it officially opened the long-awaited for Oh Happy Day Splash Park.

The stampede-themed park features sprinklers and pads that shoot water into the air. The water system rotates through 12 different cycles at 25 second intervals. The movement and height of the water changes with each cycle.

The design and cycle system are not the only unique elements of the splash park, though. The water used for the splash features will be recycled into an underground tank so public works employees can use the water for other projects such as watering flowers or baseball fields.

Project manager Melanie Friesen said she is thankful for the community's support and is happy to see everyone's hard work pay off.

"We're very thankful for all the different sponsors and community members that came out to support us. It's definitely been a community project -- that's the whole focus of it," she said.

Friesen added that the pool and splash park will be open until September 10, and possibly longer depending on the weather.
