The possibility of a Canada Post Strike in the summer, and the need for residents to receive their utility bills, was what originally initiated emailed utility billing for the Municipality of Morris earlier this year. The municipality is now holding a draw incentive for residents who sign up for emailed billing before the new year.

"It's green, it's environmental, and convenient for utility customers," noted Reeve Ralph Groening.

The draw is for a $50 Visa or Mastercard that will be made in January for those that signed up for emailed utility billing.

"It costs the municipality roughly $2,000 quarterly to mail out utility bills to about one thousand residents, emailed billing is much more cost efficient and can be a win win for the the residents and the environment," said Groening.

Groening also mentioned, for those not wanting to sign up for emailed billing, the traditional billing fashion will still be available and there are other options as well like direct bank withdrawals.
