In just over a month, the new K-8 school (expected to open in Winkler in 2019) should have a name.

The GVSD board will select a name from the entries in December

As they've done in the past, the Garden Valley School Division Board is running a 'name that school' contest.

Board Chair Laurie Dyck says $250 will be awarded to the person or persons who submitted the winning name for the new school to be built in the Pineridge area of Winkler.

"Depending on if we get multiple names the same, the prize could be shared, or it could be an individual prize."

Submissions can be emailed, faxed, or dropped off at the division office.

Dyck feels a contest like this creates some buzz, adding it's a great way for the public to provide input.
