Two hockey stars hailing from the Pembina Valley have formed a new foundation.

NHL veterans Eric Fehr and Justin Falk have created the Falk Fehr Foundation, partnering with the Winkler Community Foundation to give back to local charities through an annual golf fundraiser.

"This tournament is an opportunity for us to see everyone that supports us throughout the season," Fehr explains. "We get a ton of support from Winkler and it doesn't go unnoticed. We want to give back as much as we can."

For the last nine years, Falk and Fehr have hosted the Winkler Pro Am golf tournament, raising money for Boundary Trails Health Centre. They've now renamed the event the 'Hockey Champions Charity Golf Tournament', the proceeds of which will benefit Central Station Community Centre and the Winkler Food Cupboard this year.

"The community has been very supportive in years past, and we just wanted to continue to grow year after year," Fehr says. "We love living in Winkler and being a part of it and we want to help out."

Fehr says it's been a gratifying experience working with Falk on developing the fundraiser and foundation that they "can continue to work on and develop long beyond our hockey years."

"We are very excited about becoming more involved in our community and working with the great businesses of Winkler and surrounding area that have been giving back for so long," Falk says.

The tournament takes place June 21.
