Federal Conservative leader Andrew Scheer shuffled his shadow cabinet last week, but for Portage-Lisgar MP Candice Bergen, nothing has changed.

She remains as House Leader, and looks forward to continuing the work of the Tory team.

"We are seeing the country really under attack," she says, "And under a lot of damage being done by Justin Trudeau. And we want to show Canadians that we are a government-in-waiting, and we are ready to get Canada back on track after the next election."

Bergen says the opposition will pressure Justin Trudeau's government on a number of issues.

"As far as using our money responsibly," she says, "And balance the budget. Or whether on things like protecting our borders, and ensuring that people who need help can come into the country, rather than coming illegally, running across the borders. So there are a number of issues that Trudeau is off the mark, and is creating a lot of problems and havoc for the country."
