Customers are getting their first look at the new Home Hardware and Building Centre in Morden today.

The 26,000 square foot store, which is situated on a lot just under six acres in size opened for business Thursday morning.

The store moved locations from Morden's west end to the Pembina Connection area on the city's east side just off of Highway 3, and expanded to almost double in size.

Owner David Janzen says the size of the new location will allow them to sell building supplies, like lumber, insulation, and drywall, which is something they couldn't offer before because of a lack of space. "That is the biggest petition that we heard from our customers, that we need a better selection of building supplies in Morden, and we heard that for three years, and finally we decided okay, we'll bite the bullet, we'll do what it takes."

Janzen says since his family purchased the Home Hardware store in Morden in 2015, they have always felt very supported by the people in Morden and surrounding area. "We really look forward to being here longer, and to serve the community and to grow here and learn. We don't have it all figured out, but we want to get there. We want to be what Morden needs as far as hardware and building supplies goes."
