A parent and child pajama party last night at the Morden Legion raised money for the Morden Parent and Child Resource Centre.

The centre holds two dances each year, a pajama party in spring and a Halloween costume party in fall.

"[They] help cover our program costs," said program coordinator Janine North.

Families already clad in their p.j.'s walked into the legion basement and received glow sticks and bubbles to add to the atmosphere as children jumped up and down to the music.

"It's a great family event," she said.

All the MPCRC's programs are offered free of charge or have minimal cost, and small fundraisers like the dances help keep them that way.

North suggests that events like these create a sense of community by bringing people together with other young families.

A previous board member, North stepped into the program coordinator position in January. She felt she could do more to help the organization in that role.

"We really want foster that sense of community in Morden, and what better way than coming together [to have] fun," said North.

Over 50 children and their families attended the pajama dance party.
