Plans are moving along to rebuild the community hall and arena in Plum Coulee.  Municipality of Rhineland Reeve, Don Wiebe, says administrators attended a project team meeting last week.

"They reported that all the plans are finalized and that the mechanical, electrical and construction drawings are largely completed. Things are moving along on that front...and so we should see lots of action pretty soon."

It's been nearly a year since a fire destroyed the conjoined facility, resulting in the hockey and skating season at the rink to be cancelled this past winter. The municipality is trying hard to prevent a similar scenario for next winter.

In other Plum Coulee news, a new fire truck has been delivered to the local fire department. Wiebe says the unit is currently undergoing inspections and will be put into service as soon as that process is done.

Meantime, the Town of Gretna is getting a new lift station. Wiebe explains the current facility wasn't working well so an inspection was conducted, revealing several flaws in the design. He adds making the necessary corrections was going to cost nearly as much as a building a new, more efficient lift station so Council voted to start from scratch.
