Looking southbound from Hwy 30 to the now closed Cda/U.S. border crossingonly within a matter of hours Friday morning the area near the border crossing was inundated with water.

All traffic is being redirected to neighbouring Ports of Entry in Pembina, North Dakota and Walhalla, North Dakota.

The rising waters have led to a partial dike closure at the border crossing south of Gretna. With that in mind, according to Rhineland Municipality Public Works Director Craig Smiley, municipal officials will begin 24 hour patrols of the dyke surrounding Gretna effective today.

Meanwhile, in the Province's latest Flood Update, Flood Warnings have been issued for the lower Red River, Morris and Pembina Rivers.

Elsewhere, the Red River and its tributaries are rising rapidly. Significant increases have occurred on the Morris, Roseau and La Salle rivers, and ice jamming is occurring on the Seine River system.

The Red River upstream of the floodway inlet is expected to crest on April 5th to 6th.
