The pilot of a spray plane is in stable condition in the hospital after crashing in a field near the Canada-U.S. border about 4 miles west of Gretna on the American side.

The mishap occurred on Thursday, July 9 according to the Pembina County Sheriff's office in Cavalier, North Dakota.

A U.S. border patrol agent, who saw the Cessna aircraft go down, quickly travelled to the crash site where he helped move the injured pilot to safety. The pilot was taken by ambulance to Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier and transferred to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Pembinavalleyonline.com is trying to confirm reports that the pilot worked for an Altona aerial crop spraying business and may have been spraying a field on the Canadian side when the plane went down.
