Morden and Winkler are challenging each other to see which community can complete more activities on ParticipAction's special list, called Play List 150, in celebration of Canada's 150th birthday this year.

Stephanie Dueck and Jordan Driedger, recreation programmers for Morden and Winkler respectively, have accepted the challenge on behalf of their communities to complete as many of the 150 activities as possible before the deadline on July 29.

"We will see who gets the closest, it'll be a fun, friendly challenge," said Dueck.

Simply take a photo of yourself doing one of the activities on the list, post it on social media, and add #morden150 or #winkler150 according to which city you're representing. Everyone who participates will be entered into monthly draws to win prizes. Dueck said that if people don't have social media, photos can be emailed to herself or Driedger.

The idea to hold a competition came up as Dueck and Driedger were considering how to encourage people to participate in the Play List, and they settled on a cities-wide contest between Morden and Winkler.

"We're starting March 1 to July 29, which is exactly 150 days," said Dueck. It's a daunting goal to accomplish every item on the list in such a short time, as many activities are winter-based. But, Dueck said everyone living in each community is on the same team, so every person isn't required to check-off each activity.

"We're hoping to see lots of cool photos come in, people being active and trying something new," said Dueck. "Maybe you'll find your new favourite activity."

"Sometimes we don't realize our favourite activity is just waiting to be tried."

Play List 150 is a collection of activities that range from washing the car and walking the dog, to white-water rafting and taekwondo. Willing participants sign up on the ParticipAction webpage and collect badges for hitting various milestones.
